A Virtual Exploration of the Gallatin River
EarthViews, and the Gallatin River Task Force, have united with a common goal, to leverage the power of visual storytelling to raise awareness about the challenges and opportunities surrounding the Gallatin River. We invite you to journey along the Gallatin River via a virtual river tour.
Over two days during June 2024, a team of videographers, raft guides, and scientists set out to document conditions along 23 miles of the Upper Gallatin River. Equipped with 360 degree cameras and water quality sensors, the team documented conditions both above and below water to provide insight and raise awareness into how to protect and restore this treasured waterway.

“With this new comprehensive visualization tool, we have the ability to visually assess the condition of the entire 39 mile stretch of Upper Gallatin River and surrounding streambanks. The Task Force will utilize these images along with water data to better understand the health of the river. This visual tool provides a comparison point in time to assess current degradation with progress on river restoration work.”
