Salmonflies & Science: A Joint Study Looking at Bug Populations on the Gallatin River

In 2024, the Gallatin River Task Force and The Salmonfly Project launched a sampling effort at nine sites along the mainstem of the Gallatin River. The aim of the study is to gain a better understanding of aquatic insect populations and densities, and to establish a comparative baseline for future years’ research.
Join us to learn about findings from this inaugural season of data collection from Jackson Birrell, PhD, of The Salmonfly Project. Stick around to chat with Jackson and Gallatin River Task Force staff about the study and what aquatic insects mean for the river.
Doors will open at 5:00 and the presentation will begin at 5:15, followed by a Q&A.
