Volunteer Opportunity: Gallatin River Cleanup

August 21 @ 9:00 am - August 23 @ 5:00 pm

Join us August 21- 23 to clean up our community watershed! Volunteers can sign-up as a team or individually to pick up trash along the Highway 191 river corridor and along streams throughout the Big Sky community. Removing trash from rivers, streams, and the surrounding land positively impacts water quality, wildlife habitat, soil quality, as well as our downstream neighbors.

Don’t have a group? No worries! Join a Task Force-led team and other individuals at the following times. We will meet at the Big Sky Community Park before heading out to our cleanup sites at these times:

  • 8/21 at 1pm: Section18 B: GALLATIN RIVER- Red Cliff Campground to Pullout north of shooting range
  • 8/22 at 10am: Section 5: GALLATIN RIVER- Pullout south of Lava Lake to Greek Creek
  • 8/23 at 12pm: Section12: WEST FORK- Curly Bear to Golf Course parking lot

Where to meet: Team leaders, teams, and individuals will meet at the Big Sky Community Park  to check in and pick up supplies and snacks before heading out to a pre-assigned river section. If you or your team has not received a location, please meet us at the Big Sky Community Park. See this map for river section details.

What to bring: Wear comfortable walking shoes and bright or colorful clothing, and bring a water bottle. Gallatin River Task Force will provide trash bags, a limited number of gloves, buckets, high visibility vests, trash pickers, and snacks.

Win Prizes! The volunteer or team with the strangest item picked up will have the opportunity to win a prize! Additionally, volunteers can sign up for our raffle at Big Sky Community Park.

Volunteer in Bozeman with Gallatin Watershed Council on September 19!
