Entomology Clinic with The Salmonfly Project, Gallatin River Guides, & Gallatin River Task Force

August 25 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
$25

Join Jackson Birrell from The Salmonfly Project, as well as the Gallatin River Task Force, and Gallatin River Guides for an entomology class on the bugs of the Upper Gallatin. Of particular interest for anglers because fly fishing relies on ‘matching the hatch’, or imitating insects with artificial flies that match what trout are selectively feeding on. A strong understanding of aquatic entomology can go a long way in increasing your success as an angler.

  • WHEN: Tuesday, August 25, 6:00PM-8:30PM
  • WHERE: Gallatin River Guides, 47430 Gallatin Road, Big Sky
  • COST: $25

In this hands-on event, participants will learn from professional entomologists from The Salmonfly Project about the aquatic insects that sustain the Gallatin River. Learning will focus on basic insect identification and on the differences in life stages and behaviors among major hatches. Ultimately, the event aims to help participants to become better anglers and stewards of their local waters.
