Gallatin County’s Future Land Use Map & Housing Strategy

by | Advocacy & Outreach

Gallatin County has drafted a map of our future, and they want your feedback. The draft Future Land Use Map – The FLUM – uses broad brush strokes to paint a picture of where and how we want to direct growth. To get there, they listened and then built a model based on proximity to public infrastructure, wildfire risk, sensitive lands, wildlife corridors, and more. Check it out!

Engage by September 30th:

  1. Check out the Future Land Use Map and Housing Strategy
  2. Take the Survey – it’s only four questions!
  3. Submit comments or questions to envision@gallatin.mt.gov

General Tips for Public Comment & Survey:

  • Where do you want growth AND where do you want open space? WHY?
  • Tell the County what they’re getting right AND where to improve.
  • Is the supporting data correct? Is there data that is missing?

Water quality and water availability are major drivers in The FLUM, and issues surrounding the Gallatin River watershed play a huge role in this planning process. See how on the map below:
