Watershed Stewardship Plan Expected in December

The Big Sky Sustainable Water Solutions Forum (Water Forum) is finalizing its recommendations for action and a watershed stewardship plan to address water resources across watersheds and communities within the Big Sky area.

The watershed stewardship plan will identify priorities in three focus areas: the ecological health of the river systems, water supply and availability, and wastewater treatment and reuse. The priorities were chosen through a consensus process and represent actions the stakeholders believe will provide benefits that will both support healthy rivers and a vibrant community.

After the Water Forum concludes its work in its current form, the stakeholders and other community members will work together to implement the plan.

The Water Forum stakeholders will meet on November 16, 2017, from 1-4 pm in the Big Sky Water and Sewer District conference room to finalize recommended actions, establish a plan for implementation, and identify future funding sources. The watershed stewardship plan is expected to be complete by the end of December. A public meeting to share the watershed stewardship plan will be held in January.
