Celebrate Fly Fishing and Conservation from June 30th to July 2nd, 2017 in Big Sky

The sixth annual Gallatin River Fly Fishing Festival will land in Big Sky from June 30th to July 2nd, 2017.

“We are really excited to grow the Fly Fishing Festival into a community-wide celebration of rivers and conservation,” said Kristin Gardner, Executive Director of the Gallatin River Task Force. “Thanks to new events and a great band, the 2017 Festival will be bigger and better than ever!”

The Fly Fishing Festival features three days of fun-filled, family-friendly events that celebrate river sports and watershed conservation. Last year, the festival raised $23,000 to ensure the Gallatin River runs with cold, clean, and abundant water, now and forever.

Festival sponsor, Gallatin River Guides, will kick off the event with the annual Pesca Fiesta on June 30th. Gallatin River Guides will offer deals on gear, cheap food, and free beer from 5 to 7 PM at their shop.

The outdoor fair presented by the RMR Group will make a splash in the Town Center Park on Saturday afternoon with product demonstrations, casting clinics by Master Casting Instructor, Dok Arvanites, casting competitions, fly tying, kid’s activities, and river conservation education booths.

For the third year in a row, local guides and their favorite clients will fish for the honor of Great Gallatin Guide-Off Guide of the Year while teams of three will compete in the inaugural Pedal, Paddle, Run-Off, a multi-sport race to and from the Gallatin River.

Accompanying the vendor fair on July 1st will be a concert from Low Water String Band, an energetic bluegrass quartet based in Lander, Wyoming.
