Cause of Yellowstone Club Spill Identified

by | Water Monitoring

Yesterday, the cause of the Yellowstone Club Effluent Spill was determined. Ice completely severed the outlet structure causing rapid flow that damaged the outlet pipe and pond lining. The break was above a valve, and flow could not be stemmed until the pond had drained. The damaged outlet structure now lies at the bottom of the storage pond (above).

Crews continue to work on repairs and containment. Last night, work began on a coffer dam to contain flow and create a dry work environment.
